Travis 2026 Father's Day Q&A
What’s your favorite part about being a dad?
My favorite part about being a dad is also my least favorite in seeing my kids grow up so quickly. Each stage is so different and new and I miss the last. That said, I am also so excited for that ‘next chapter.’
Describe a typical day balancing life as a Financial Advisor and a dad.
With a career as time sensitive and demanding, often times the balance becomes ‘daddy play time’ quickly transitioning to answering client calls, emails or preparing for the next day well into the kiddos’ bedtime and beyond. I wouldn’t call it ‘balance’, but it is something that I continue to strive to perfect.
What’s the best piece of advice your own father (or father figure) gave you?
My Dad taught me the importance of avoiding debt. This is something that was actually part of the catalyst in transitioning my career from banking into being a Financial Advisor; to help others in becoming empowered with the money they work so hard to earn and enhance their personal financial goals and lives.
How do you talk to your kids about money or saving in a way they understand?
When reviewing things that the kids want to purchase, we will ask if it is something that they want to use their own piggy bank funds for. They like to save and it can introduce a different emotion tied to money when that mindset is changed to ‘spend’, just like adults. In addition to saving and spending, we teach the kids the importance of giving which they practice within our local community.
What’s your favorite way to spend quality time with your kids?
Anytime I get to spend with my children is special. In addition to working/playing outside, we enjoy camping and creating memories as a family traveling when we can.
